Irrigation System Installation in Markham
A properly designed irrigation system is one of the highest-value investments you can make in a Markham property. Hand-watering and oscillating sprinklers waste water, leave dry patches, and rarely reach the root zone where it matters. Ramada Landscaping designs, installs, and services complete irrigation systems built for Ontario's clay-heavy soils, variable rainfall, and — critically — our hard winter freeze.
Sprinkler Systems
We design zoned sprinkler systems tailored to your lawn's shape, sun exposure, and soil type. Each zone is calculated for precise head-to-head coverage so you get even watering with no dry spots and no runoff onto driveways or sidewalks. We use commercial-grade pop-up spray heads and rotors, PVC and poly mainlines rated for our climate, and pressure-regulated valves that protect the system from Markham's variable municipal water pressure.
Drip Irrigation
Garden beds, foundation plantings, shrubs, and vegetable gardens perform best with drip irrigation rather than overhead spray. Drip lines deliver water directly to the root zone, cutting water use significantly compared to spray irrigation while reducing fungal disease on leaves. We integrate drip zones into the same controller as your lawn sprinklers so everything runs on one coordinated schedule.
Smart Controllers
Every system we install can be paired with a smart Wi-Fi controller — we most often recommend Rachio or Hunter Hydrawise. Smart controllers pull local weather data and automatically skip watering days after rainfall, adjust run times for heat and humidity, and let you control every zone from your phone. Beyond convenience, this is where real water savings come from: a smart controller stops your system from running on a day it's already raining.
Fall Winterization — Critical in Ontario
This is not optional. If an irrigation system is not properly blown out with compressed air before the ground freezes, water trapped in the lines, valves, and backflow preventer expands as it freezes and cracks pipes, valves, and heads — damage you won't discover until you turn the system back on in spring, and repairs that can cost far more than the winterization itself would have. Ramada winterizes systems every fall using a commercial air compressor to purge every zone completely, and we shut down and insulate the backflow preventer to protect it from frost. Book your winterization before the first hard freeze — we schedule these on a first-come basis every October and November because demand is high and the weather window is not.
Spring Startup Service
In spring we pressurize the system, check the backflow preventer, inspect every head and valve for winter damage, adjust spray patterns and rotor arcs for the new growing season, and reprogram your controller for the year ahead. Catching a cracked pipe or stuck valve in April, before your lawn needs water, is far cheaper than discovering it mid-summer with a flooded flower bed or a bone-dry section of lawn.
Our Installation Process
1. Site Design
We map your property, measure water pressure and flow, and design zones matched to plant type and sun exposure.
2. Trenching & Piping
Mainlines and laterals are trenched and laid to code, with sod carefully cut and replaced to minimize lawn disruption.
3. Heads & Controller
Sprinkler heads, drip emitters, valves, and your smart controller are installed and wired to spec.
4. Testing & Walkthrough
Every zone is pressure-tested and adjusted on site, and we walk you through the controller app before we leave.
Pricing
Most residential irrigation systems in Markham run $3,000–$8,000 installed, depending on lot size, number of zones, whether drip irrigation is included, and controller selection. Fall winterization and spring startup are billed separately as seasonal service calls. Every quote is based on an on-site visit — we don't price irrigation systems over the phone because lot size and water pressure vary too much to estimate accurately.
